Exemptions from motor vehicle taxes and fees for qualifying veterans and volunteer firefighters in Minnesota.
This bill amends Minnesota Statutes to establish exemptions from certain taxes and fees on motor vehicles for qualifying veterans and volunteer firefighters. Specifically, eligible owners, which include veterans with a total service-connected disability and active members of volunteer fire departments, can register up to two vehicles without paying registration taxes, administrative fees, filing fees, plate and validation sticker fees, and transfer fees. The exemptions apply to taxes payable for registration periods starting on or after January 1, 2026.
