Minnesota SF1505 requires the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board to develop a model policy for safe traffic stops by December 31, 2025. This policy must be created in consultation with law enforcement agencies, traffic safety experts, community organizations, and other relevant stakeholders. The model policy must include instruction on procedures and best practices, practical scenarios and role-playing exercises, legal standards and rights during traffic stops, de-escalation and communication strategies, and methods to engage and educate the community.
