Minnesota SF1150 provides a onetime appropriation of $6,000,000 from the general fund for the commissioner of employment and economic development to grant to FilmNorth. The funds will be used to renovate a property at 2447 University Avenue West in St. Paul into a multiuse facility. This facility will include a workforce training center for film industry jobs, an archive for short films, documentaries, experimental films, and narrative films made by Minnesota media artists, a soundstage and community events space, and affordable office space for low-income artists.
