Establishes fire protection and emergency medical services special taxing districts and provides aid for these services.
This bill establishes fire protection and emergency medical services special taxing districts in Minnesota. It provides aid for these districts, with the annual aid amount equal to 50 percent of the district's levy certified for the previous year. The commissioner of revenue is responsible for calculating and certifying the aid amount by August 1 of the year preceding the aid distribution year, and making payments by July 20 annually. If the total aid exceeds a specified limit, the distribution to each district must be reduced proportionally.
