For all-electric vehicles, the surcharge is set at $150 for registrations from January 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, and $100 thereafter. For plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the surcharge is $75 for the same period and $50 thereafter. These surcharges are in addition to the existing vehicle registration tax. The surcharges are calculated based on the vehicle's manufacturer's suggested retail price and its year of life.
