Caledonia authorized to impose a local sales and use tax for Public Safety Center construction.
The bill authorizes the city of Caledonia to impose a local sales and use tax of one-quarter percent. The tax revenue will be used to cover the costs of collecting and administering the tax, and to finance up to $1,600,000 for the construction of a Public Safety Center, including associated bonding costs and interest. The tax can be issued as bonds and is not subject to certain debt limitations. The tax expires ten years after imposition or when sufficient funds are collected, whichever comes first.
