Minnesota HF4242 amends the procedures for coroners and medical examiners to handle the personal property of decedents. It requires coroners to inventory and file a fingerprint of each finger of each hand of the decedent if no will is admitted to probate or administration is had within three months after death. The coroner may surrender property of nominal value to the spouse or blood relatives of the decedent. If no will is admitted to probate or administration is had within six months after death, the coroner shall sell the property at public auction.
