The bill allows the city of Audubon to impose a local sales and use tax of up to one-half of one percent. The tax revenue will be used to cover the costs of collecting and administering the tax and to finance the construction of a new fire station, up to $3,000,000 plus associated bonding costs. The tax expires 20 years after imposition or earlier if the city council determines the funds are sufficient. The tax is in addition to any other local sales and use tax.
