Minnesota HF3939 allocates $200,000 from the general fund for a one-time grant to Helping Paws, Inc. The grant funds will support the breeding, training, and placement of service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities, veterans and first responders with service-related post-traumatic stress disorder, and professionals in courthouse, educational, and mental health settings. The grant is a special honorarium appropriation in memory of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman. The commissioner of health may also accept private donations to supplement the state funds.
