Kandiyohi County is authorized to impose a local sales and use tax of up to one-half of one percent, if approved by voters, to finance the construction of a new joint judicial center and public safety facility, and renovations to the county health and human services building. The tax revenue will also cover the costs of collecting and administering the tax and securing and paying debt service on bonds issued for these projects. The tax expires 25 years after it is first imposed or when the county board determines that the amount received from the tax is sufficient to pay for the project costs.
