Increases the number of leadership positions in the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate.
The bill increases the number of leadership positions in the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate from five to six. These positions can receive up to 140 percent of the compensation of other members. Each house will designate its majority and minority leaders at the start of each legislative session. The majority leader is chosen by the largest political affiliation, and the minority leader by the second largest. This change is effective retroactively from January 14, 2025.
