Michigan SJRL amends the state constitution to restrict entities from spending in state elections or ballot issues.

Michigan SJRL amends the state constitution by adding section 55 to Article IV, prohibiting domestic and foreign entities from spending money or anything of value in support of or in opposition to candidates, political parties, political committees, or ballot questions. The amendment revokes any existing powers granted to entities before the effective date of this section. Exceptions include existing contracts, debts, securities, or legal obligations, and bona fide news stories, commentaries, or editorials.
