Michigan SB1036 extends the certification period for certain career and technical education teachers.

Michigan SB1036 amends the state's education law to allow school boards to extend the certification period for noncertificated, nonendorsed teachers in career and technical education programs. These teachers can be employed for up to 20 years if they meet specific criteria, such as having a major or graduate degree in their field of specialization, passing a subject area examination, and having relevant occupational experience. The bill also allows for the use of teaching experience to waive student teaching requirements for obtaining a provisional teaching certificate.
