Michigan SB0991 prohibits using algorithms to set prices based on protected class data.

Michigan SB0991 amends the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to prohibit the use of personalized algorithmic pricing in trade or commerce online. This means that businesses cannot use algorithms to set prices for goods or services based on protected class data, which includes information about a consumer's ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive health care.
