Michigan SB0990 requires the Michigan Department of Education to approve valid and reliable screening and progress-monitoring reading assessments for use by school districts and public school academies. The bill mandates that school districts and public school academies select and use approved assessments to screen and identify pupils with characteristics of dyslexia or difficulties in learning to decode accurately and efficiently.
