Introduced Text

Allows electric utilities to use existing rights-of-way for electronic transmission infrastructure.

This bill amends Michigan's public utilities law to allow electric utilities to use existing rights-of-way for electronic transmission infrastructure. It requires utilities to obtain consent from local governing bodies before constructing or maintaining lines and poles. The bill also mandates that the state transportation department consult with utilities to prepare a constructability report for collocation projects, ensuring that lines and structures are underground and do not increase maintenance costs.
