Michigan SB0844 amends the state's assault laws to specifically prohibit assaulting, battering, wounding, resisting, obstructing, opposing, or endangering a letter carrier. Penalties range from imprisonment up to 2 years and a $2,000 fine for causing bodily injury, up to 4 years and a $5,000 fine for causing a serious impairment, up to 15 years and a $10,000 fine for causing death.
