Allows notaries public to perform notarial acts electronically using 2-way real-time audiovisual technology.

This bill amends Michigan's notary public laws to allow notaries to perform notarial acts electronically using 2-way real-time audiovisual technology. This technology must allow direct interaction between the notary, the individual seeking notarization, and any witnesses. The notary must confirm the identity of the individual and witnesses through credential analysis and identity proofing. The bill also allows for the use of electronic records and signatures in governmental transactions. This provision is effective from April 30, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
