Michigan SB0794 prohibits landlords from using software that uses nonpublic competitor data to set rent rates.

Michigan SB0794 amends the Landlord-Tenant Act to prohibit landlords from using, incorporating, or training an algorithmic pricing device with nonpublic competitor data to advise on rent amounts for tenants in single and 2-family dwellings. This includes coordinating price, supply, or rental housing information among landlords or entering into agreements that restrain the rental housing market. A violation of this provision constitutes a violation of the Michigan antitrust reform act.
