Michigan SB0735 modifies the definition of child neglect to exclude certain unsupervised activities and situations.

Michigan SB0735 amends the definition of child neglect to exclude instances where a child is left unsupervised if no harm or likely harm results, and where a child engages in independent activities outside supervision if the responsible adult did not disregard obvious risks. It also specifies that "independent activities" include traveling to or from school or a nearby location by bicycle or on foot, playing outdoors, or remaining at home or other location for a reasonable period of time.
