Michigan SB0712 modifies district court magistrate qualifications and appointment procedures.

Michigan SB0712 amends the qualifications and appointment procedures for district court magistrates. It specifies that magistrates must reside in or be employed by the county they serve, or in an adjoining county under a concurrent jurisdiction plan. It also allows for temporary service in other counties within the same district. The bill sets a limit of six magistrates in the thirty-sixth district and allows for magistrate appointments under a multiple district plan.
