Michigan SB0614 removes foreign language requirement, replaces with life skills requirement for high school diploma.

Michigan SB0614 amends the Michigan Merit Curriculum to remove the foreign language requirement and replace it with a life skills requirement for high school diplomas. The bill specifies that life skills credits can be fulfilled through career and technical education programs or courses in languages other than English, fine arts, or other subjects. It also allows for modifications to the curriculum based on a student's personal interests and career goals, subject to approval by the student's parent or legal guardian and the school's superintendent.
