Introduced Text

Michigan SB0504 requires testing and reporting of microplastics in public drinking water supplies.

Michigan SB0504 amends the Safe Drinking Water Act to mandate the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to establish and administer a microplastics program. This program will monitor and test public water supplies on a quarterly basis from July 1, 2027, until July 1, 2030. The program aims to establish baseline conditions for microplastics in public water supplies and assess their effects. The department must submit a report to the legislature by July 1, 2031, detailing findings, recommendations, and criteria for monitoring and testing.
