Michigan SB0453 amends the state's educational curriculum requirements to include units of instruction on various histories starting from the 2027-2028 school year. These include Black, Indigenous People, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, North African, and Chaldean American, Latin American, Hispanic American, and Caribbean American, and Jewish American histories. Each unit must cover historical events, contributions to the United States, and civil rights advancements. Instruction must be appropriate for all pupils and free from bias or discrimination.
