Michigan SB0378 amends the education law to introduce a letter grade system for public schools starting in the 2025-2026 school year. The Department of Education will assign grades A, B, C, D, or F based on pupil proficiency in mathematics and English language arts, as well as pupils' adequate growth toward proficiency. The grades will be determined by the percentage of pupils achieving proficiency and those demonstrating sufficient growth, including English language learners.
