Introduced Text

Michigan SB0374 amends civil procedure to allow sealing and expunging eviction records under certain conditions.

Michigan SB0374 amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to allow courts to seal and expunge records of summary proceedings for evictions under specific conditions. The court may seal records if it determines that sealing is in the interests of justice. Records may be sealed if the premises were sold after foreclosure, if the defendant vacated before proceedings were filed, or if the parties agree to seal the records. Sealed records are automatically expunged three years after a judgment for possession becomes final.
