Michigan SB0295 mandates that the Michigan Department of Education develop a model program of instruction on water safety to be implemented in schools starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The program must include topics such as the proper use of flotation devices, awareness of water conditions, and the importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Department of Health and Human Services must provide an informational notice in English, Spanish, and Arabic to parents of students enrolled in public and nonpublic schools.
