Michigan SB0286 amends sections of the marriage and divorce law to mandate that all parties intending to marry must obtain a marriage license from the county clerk. The license must be delivered to the officiant before the marriage ceremony. If both parties are non-residents, one party must duplicate the license and return the original to the county clerk within 10 days. The officiant must keep an accurate record of all marriages and fill in the required information on the marriage certificate.
