Chamber Passed·5/20/25

Amends Michigan civil procedure to exempt certain criminal sexual conduct claims from notice requirements.

This bill amends Michigan's civil procedure law to exempt claims for criminal sexual conduct from the notice requirements for actions filed in the court of claims. Specifically, it modifies section 6431 of the Revised Judicature Act of 1961 to exclude claims for compensation under the wrongful imprisonment compensation act and claims to which section 5851b applies from the notice filing requirements. This change applies retroactively to pending actions and those brought under section 5851b(4) of the revised judicature act.
