Chamber Passed·8/26/25

Michigan SB0247 amends hazardous waste disposal fees for class I multisource commercial hazardous waste disposal wells.

Michigan SB0247 amends the Michigan Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to establish a fee for waste disposed of in class I multisource commercial hazardous waste disposal wells. The fee is based on the quantity of waste injected and is set at 0.417 cents per gallon. Owners or operators of these wells must assess and pay the fee, which is subject to annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index. Certain wastes are exempt from the fee, and generators must provide written certification for exemptions.
