Michigan SB0244 requires physicians and optometrists to report patients with seizure-related conditions to the Secretary of State.

Michigan SB0244 amends the Michigan Public Health Code to require physicians and optometrists to report patients with conditions that cause or contribute to seizures to the Secretary of State. This reporting is intended to ensure the safety of persons and property by assessing the patient's qualifications to operate a motor vehicle. Physicians and optometrists who make such reports in good faith and with due care are immune from civil or criminal liability. The bill also defines terms such as "episode," "optometrist," "physician," and "seizure experience.
