Chamber Passed·5/21/25

Expands mediation for disputes in Michigan's community mental health services.

The bill amends Michigan's mental health laws to expand mediation for disputes between recipients of community mental health services and the service providers. It mandates that recipients be offered mediation to resolve disputes, with a mediator trained in mediation techniques and knowledgeable in relevant laws. The mediation process must begin within 10 business days of a request and be completed within 30 days, unless extended by agreement. If mediation resolves the dispute, a legally binding document is prepared. If not, the mediator must document the unresolved dispute.
