Establishes a process for reinstating terminated parental rights in Michigan.
Michigan SB0218 amends the state's child welfare laws to create a process for reinstating parental rights that have been terminated. The bill allows for reinstatement if adoption or guardianship is no longer the child's permanency goal, three years or more have passed since the termination, and the child is at least 14 years old or is the younger sibling of a child at least 14 years old for whom reinstatement is being sought. The court may order a trial period of reinstatement, not exceeding 180 days, during which the child is conditionally placed in the parent's care.
