The bill amends the Michigan Public Act 46 of 1975 to expand the powers and duties of the Office of Legislative Corrections Ombudsman. It allows the ombudsman to investigate complaints from prisoners, legislators, family members, and prisoner advocates. The ombudsman can request access to department records, interview individuals, and inspect premises. The ombudsman must report on complaints, investigations, and recommendations. The ombudsman can also consult with qualified experts for assistance and bring necessary equipment into correctional facilities.
