Michigan SB0062 mandates schools to develop drinking water management plans and install filtration systems if lead is detected.

Michigan SB0062 requires schools to create drinking water management plans and install filtration systems if lead is detected. Schools must install at least one filtered bottle-filling station for every 100 occupants. If lead is found at 1-5 parts per billion, schools must replace filters and retest. If lead exceeds 5 parts per billion, schools must shut off the water outlet and consult with the department. Schools not testing positive for lead are exempt from these requirements.
