Chamber Passed·1/29/25

Amends the Freedom of Information Act to clarify applicability to the legislature and governor's office.

This bill amends the Michigan Freedom of Information Act to clarify the applicability of the act to the legislature and the governor's office. It defines terms such as "public record," "public body," and "FOIA coordinator." The act separates public records into those exempt from disclosure and those subject to disclosure. It also outlines the conditions under which a public body may deny a request for public records. The changes take effect on January 1 of the first odd-numbered year that begins at least 6 months after the bill is enacted, contingent on the enactment of Senate Bill No.
