Michigan HJRI — Eliminates exception to prohibition on slavery for punishment of crime in state constitution.

Michigan HJRI amends Section 9, Article I of the state constitution to eliminate the exception allowing involuntary servitude as punishment for crime. This change ensures that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, even as a punishment for crime, will ever be tolerated in the state. The amendment will be presented to the people of Michigan at the next general election.
