Michigan HB6211 amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to prohibit certain federal employees from being certified or recertified as local corrections officers. Specifically, it bars individuals who were not employed as local corrections officers before January 1, 2005, and who become or seek to become employed as such on or after that date, unless they meet specific conditions. These conditions include being a U.S. citizen aged 18 or older, having a high school diploma or passing score on the GED test, and not having been employed by federal agencies such as U.S.
