Michigan HB6073, also known as the "medical debt act," aims to regulate the collection and reporting of medical debt information. It prohibits medical creditors and debt collectors from communicating or reporting medical debt to consumer reporting agencies. Collection agencies are also restricted from representing that medical debt information will be included in consumer reports unless the report is for a credit transaction exceeding the national conforming loan limit value for a 1-unit property.
