Michigan HB5904 requires health insurers to cover infertility treatments, including diagnostic care, treatment, and fertility preservation services.

Michigan HB5904 amends the insurance code to mandate that health insurers cover the treatment of infertility. This includes fertility diagnostic care, fertility treatment, and standard fertility preservation services. The bill specifies that coverage must include at least four complete oocyte retrievals with unlimited embryo transfers from those retrievals. Insurers must provide this coverage without discrimination and without imposing different limitations than those applied to other medical services. The provisions take effect on January 1, 2027.
