Introduced Text

Exempts certain preschool classrooms in public schools from child care licensing rules.

Michigan HB5803 amends the definition of "child care organization" to exempt preschool programs or classrooms located in public schools that provide part-day or school-day programs, GSRP extended programs, or GSRP/Head Start blended programs from child care licensing rules. This exemption applies when school-age children can come and go at will during group athletic or social activities. The bill also revises definitions related to child care and licensing to clarify the scope of affected facilities and programs.
