This bill amends Michigan law to increase penalties for intentionally discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle if the vehicle is occupied. Specifically, it raises the maximum imprisonment term from 20 years to 10 years and the fine from $20,000 to $10,000. If the offender knows or has reason to believe that a minor is in the vehicle, the penalties are further increased. The act may be referred to as "Messiah's Law" and will take effect 90 days after enactment.
