Michigan HB5717 amends the election law to allow townships to contract with an accredited individual to perform election duties if the township clerk or a deputy is unavailable. The contracted individual must reside within a reasonable proximity to the township and has the same powers and authority as a deputy township clerk. The individual must also provide a report to the township board at each regularly scheduled meeting summarizing the duties performed.
