Michigan HB5715 amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to mandate that the Michigan National Guard provide wages to its members through direct deposit or electronic transfer. This change applies to all duty statuses starting with the servicemember's first pay period. Employers are prohibited from requiring employees to pay fees or costs related to wage payment methods. Employers can pay wages via direct deposit, check, or payroll debit card, but must obtain written consent from employees for the latter.
