Michigan HB5642 amends the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to include a new section requiring the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to notify local authorities and adjacent property owners before clear-cutting more than 5 acres of forest for non-forestry purposes. The department must provide details about the location, intended use, and cost of the clear-cutting. Additionally, the department must post a notice of the project on its website and in a local newspaper, allowing at least 5 days for public comment.
