Expands circumstances under which a court may change a child's established custodial environment.
The bill amends Michigan family law to allow courts to change a child's established custodial environment if the offending parent was convicted of criminal sexual conduct or nonconsensual sexual penetration of a biological child. It also allows courts to refuse to modify or amend a previous custody order if the nonoffending parent knowingly entered into a custody agreement with the offending parent. The changes apply retroactively to all final child custody orders and judgments issued on or after January 1, 2022.
