Introduced Text

Michigan HB5553 prohibits condemnation of property for carbon dioxide pipelines.

Michigan HB5553 amends existing law to prohibit the condemnation of property by eminent domain for the purpose of constructing carbon dioxide pipelines. This bill specifically addresses the use of highways in the state for acquiring rights-of-way for carbon dioxide pipelines, which were previously allowed under the existing statute. The condemnation proceedings for other purposes, such as transporting crude oil or petroleum, remain unaffected.
