Introduced Text

Michigan HB5539 amends the law to allow qualified transmission companies to condemn property for electric transmission lines.

Michigan HB5539 amends the law to allow qualified transmission companies to condemn property for electric transmission lines. The bill specifies that an independent transmission company or an affiliated transmission company can condemn property necessary for transmitting electric energy for public use. However, it prohibits these companies from circumventing a transmission organization and from condemning property owned by an electric or gas utility or municipally owned utility in a manner that unreasonably disrupts service.
