Introduced Text

Expands earned sick time use to include domestic violence, sexual assault, and school meetings for children with disabilities or health issues.

This bill amends the Michigan earned sick time law to allow employees to use accrued sick time for personal or family health needs, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and school meetings related to a child's disability or health issues. Employers must permit the use of earned sick time for these purposes and cannot require detailed documentation unless the need for time off is foreseeable. Employers must treat health information and details of domestic violence or sexual assault as confidential.
