Michigan HB5410 amends the domestic violence prevention and treatment act to include support for common household pets in shelter programs for victims of domestic violence. The bill defines common household pets as domesticated animals kept for pleasure, not for commercial purposes. Shelter programs can provide or assist in obtaining services for pets, alongside other support services for victims and their children.
